The gummy smile procedure, is a great solution for those who feel that they show too much of their gums when they smile. A small implant is placed deep to the muscle in the upper lip through an incision in the floor of the nostril and is kept in place by its position against the bottom of the nose. This prevents the upper lip from elevating too much in the mid portion which is the cause of showing too much gum, i.e. "gummy smile". This leaves the patient with a more proportional and therefore attractive smile.
