What Is a Mommy Makeover?

If you’re feeling down about losing your figure after having a baby, and diet and exercise have not resolved these issues, a mommy makeover may be the solution for you. A mommy makeover is a combination of plastic surgery procedures that are designed to help you get your pre-baby body back. These treatments focus on areas of the body that are commonly affected by pregnancy.

The most common procedures in a mommy makeover include a boob job and a tummy tuck, but other procedures may also be combined into your mommy makeover to achieve your post-baby body goals. Many women decide to have all of their concerns addressed in a single surgery. That makes sense because you would only have to go under anesthetic once, and you would have a single recovery and downtime after the procedure.

mommy makeover can be tailored to the patient’s unique needs – it can be any combination of procedures that are right for you:

  • Tummy tuck

  • Buttock or thigh lift

  • Liposuction

  • Breast Lift

  • Breast augmentation

  • Breast reduction

  • Vaginal rejuvenation

HOW PREGNANCY CHANGES THE BODY

While some women do not have major body changes after pregnancy, most women do. These changes can include breast deflation, abdominal stretch marks, drooping and sagging, extra deposits of body fat that resist diet and exercise, and separation of the abdominal muscles resulting in bulging of the abdominal wall.

Many of these body changes are permanent and they persist even with regular diet and exercise.

WHEN SHOULD I HAVE MY MOMMY MAKEOVER?

After a pregnancy, you need to give your body time to recover. If you’re thinking about having a mommy makeover, make sure that you are done breastfeeding and that you have given your body sufficient time to recover. You should wait at least six months to have a mommy makeover. Also, you should wait until you are done having children to have the procedure. Each time you get pregnant, your body will undergo significant changes. If you have another child after having your mommy makeover, you will be undoing the work that you have had done.

HOW INVOLVED IS A MOMMY MAKEOVER?

A mommy makeover is considered to be a very involved form of plastic surgery since it has the potential to reshape so many areas of the body at once. It requires general anesthesia and can take anywhere from three to six hours, depending on the procedures that you are having done.

Your recovery will depend in great part on the type of surgical work that you have done. Because mommy makeovers often involve the reshaping of multiple body areas, they tend to have fairly lengthy recovery periods. Most women plan to spend at least two to three off from work.
