Body Contouring Q&A

Q: Am I a good candidate for body contouring?
A: Good candidates for body contouring are patients who have had weight loss resulting in excess of skin in areas of the body, patients with localized areas of fat, and patients with abdominal excess of skin, fat, and or muscle weakness.

Q: Are there different procedures for different people?
A: Body contouring procedures include:

    • Abdominoplasty
    • Breast Lift
    • Liposuction
    • Arm Lift
    • Thigh Lift
    • Gynecomastia surgery

Q: What is the recovery period?
A: Recovery periods vary, but generally no longer than six weeks.

Q: When will I see my final results?
A: Final results are usually visible between 3 and 6 months after the procedure.

Breast Augmentation Q&A

Q: Am I a good candidate for breast augmentation?
A: Good candidates for breast augmentation surgery are:

      • Women who are concerned about their appearance and feel that they are not satisfied with size and/or shape of breasts
      • Women who have had children and/or breastfed and lost volume in their breasts
      • Women who have always had naturally small breasts
      • Women who have uneven breasts
      • Women who have lost weight and lost breast size

Q: Saline or Silicone?
A: There is a use for both types of implants. Silicone is used most commonly in those with a small amount of breast tissue. Saline is used in women who have enough natural breast tissue or those with a significant difference in size of their breasts.

Q: Why do you place the implants behind the muscle?
A: I place them behind the muscle because there are fewer risks and complications. There is less interference with the reading of mammograms. The results, once the implants have settled are the most natural.

Q: When will I be able to drive?
A: You can drive after one week.

Q: How long until I can exercise?
A: Lower body exercise at three weeks and full exercise (with weight restrictions) at six weeks.

Q: When can I wear underwire bras after the surgery?
A: Underwire bras are not recommended for the initial three month period. However, they can be worn on occasion after that. Daily use is not recommended in women with breast implants.

Q: Will my breasts move and feel like natural breasts?
A: My objective with this procedure is to give you natural feeling and moving breasts. There will be a difference in the feel between silicone and saline filled implants, with the silicone having a more natural feel.

Q: Will I get information on my implants?
A: You will receive an implant identification card with the brand, reference, catalog number and serial number of your breast implants. You will also receive a warranty booklet.
