Procedure Types

Simple vs Surgical Extraction

Removing visible teeth is a simple extraction. Teeth that are broken, below the surface, or impacted require a more involved procedure.

Simple Extraction

Performed on a tooth that is fully visible above the gum line. The tooth is loosened and removed in one piece using specialized instruments. A simple extraction is the quicker of the two approaches and is the procedure used when a visible tooth needs to come out.

Surgical Extraction

Required when a tooth is broken, has not fully erupted, or is impacted below the surface. A surgical extraction is more involved than a simple one and may require a small incision to reach the tooth. This is the approach used for teeth that cannot be removed in a single piece.
