Overview

What Is Labiaplasty?

For many Fort Lauderdale and Broward County women, intimacy can be dampened by feeling self-conscious about the appearance of their private parts. Women who are unsatisfied with the look of their sexual organs can now have them surgically rejuvenated to a trimmer and neater appearance via labiaplasty. Labiaplasty is a delicate surgery that should be performed only by a double board-certified plastic surgeon such as Nathan Eberle, M.D., D.D.S., F.A.C.S. at Weston Center for Plastic Surgery.

Often referred to as vaginal rejuvenation, labiaplasty is a highly sensitive and individualized genital cosmetic surgery that reconstructs the shape or size of the inner or outer labia. While our bodies are all naturally different, many women feel self-conscious about large or asymmetrical labia, or find them uncomfortable during physical activity or in tight clothing.

Benefits

Benefits of Labiaplasty

Labiaplasty addresses both cosmetic and functional concerns. Many women experience relief from physical discomfort during exercise, improved confidence during intimate moments, and greater comfort in everyday clothing. The surgery can also correct asymmetry or reduce excess tissue that causes irritation when tight pants are worn.

Candidacy

Is Labiaplasty Right for Me?

You may be a good candidate if you are not happy with the look of your labia. Many women seeking labiaplasty say they are too embarrassed to allow a sexual partner to see their genital area. Some women feel that their labia protrudes too far, while others report that large labia cause irritation when tight pants are worn. Ideal candidates are adult women in good overall health.

The Procedure

How Involved Is the Labiaplasty Procedure?

Labiaplasty procedures are performed with general anesthesia. Large or asymmetrical vaginal lips can be trimmed with a scalpel and the natural tissues contoured to change the overall appearance of the labia. Once reshaped according to the patient’s wishes, the incisions are closed with dissolving sutures. The surgical process usually takes one to two hours.

Recovery

How Long Is the Recovery After Vaginal Rejuvenation?

The full recovery takes about a month. Common side effects include soreness, tenderness, bruising, and swelling.

Three Phases
01

First Week

Most women return to work within a week. A pad is worn during this time due to post-surgery bleeding.

02

Weeks Two to Four

Strenuous activity and heavy lifting are avoided. A donut cushion makes sitting more comfortable. Bruising and swelling steadily resolve.

03

One Month

Sexual contact and tampon use should be avoided for at least one month to allow the area to fully heal.
