The device looks like a pen, with multiple very fine needles at the tip. Stamped across the skin in a precisely controlled pattern, those needles create thousands of micro-channels that prompt the body to produce new collagen, the structural protein responsible for the skin’s firmness and elasticity. The Mechanism
How Micro-Needling Works
The Dermapen tip carries a series of very fine needles that puncture the surface of the skin in a controlled, automated pattern. Those punctures cause a microscopic trauma the body reads as injury and responds to with a fresh wave of collagen production as part of its natural healing response.
The same micro-channels double as delivery routes for the topical nutrients and serums applied during the session, transporting them deeper into the dermis than topical application alone could ever reach. The result is amplified, more lasting effects per treatment.

vs. Fractional Lasers
Lasers use heat and light to create micro-trauma. They can be effective, but they carry a risk of hyperpigmentation and longer downtime. Dermapen creates the same controlled micro-channels mechanically, without heat.

The Recovery
Micro-needling requires little to no downtime. Avoid direct sun, strenuous activity, and other facial treatments for 24 hours. Skin reads red and slightly swollen immediately after, sometimes with pinpoint bleeding, all of which subsides within three days. Most patients are back at work the next day; some return the same day.
