WHAT IS FAT GRAFTING?

Fat grafting, also known as fat transfer, is the surgical procedure in which fat is taken from one part of the body and injected into the face, buttocks, thighs, breast, or another part of the body. The practice of taking fat from one part of the body and using it as a filler in another part dates all the way back to 1893, though the procedure as we know it today did not gain popularity until liposuction was developed in the 1980s. Though fat grafting may not be as well-known a technique as other cosmetic skin tightening procedures, many plastic surgeons believe it to be much safer and more effective.

Many patients who have undergone fat grafting rave about their smoother skin and more natural-looking. In addition, they have reported enjoying the following benefits and results of the procedure:

FAT GRAFTING RECOVERY

Some discomfort and slight bruising around the treated areas are to be expected for the first few days following treatment. Pain medicine and ice packs can be used to minimize any swelling or bruising and lessen any pain. You may resume your daily activities within two weeks following treatment. However, you should consult with Dr. Eberle before beginning any exercise following your procedure.
